Making Connections: Commenting on each other's coursework

Impact 25
One aspect I found really compelling about this project other than the incredible sound design was the posters you made to create them. I remember you said that the posters in the end didn’t bring many people but I wonder what other techniques you could use similar to poster making to advertise. I’d be interested in seeing what type of “old media” you could use to advertise it or what type of unexpected ways. Maybe you could include a QR code with different sound edits asking people to submit audio at the end. I think it could be interesting to combine your sound project and this idea of communicating an idea through word of mouth more traditional style of advertising. Great work guys!
Hot Dog Bomb

I told you this already but I’ll state it here, that your process of animation makes me think about William Kentridge’s charcoal animations. Especially after reading your motivation for creating the artwork. I’m going to re-ask is Yupo paper like a waxy paper
Is that how you were able to use so much water and re-erase.
I think it would be really cool to see how you could further iterate on this. Using more consumeristic imagery as a way to critic war and bloodshed. First thought comes to diamonds and blood diamonds in Africa, clothing in factories but I think your hot dog has a more interesting connection between two different stark objects. Maybe you could use it to talk about the war in Iran and could involve boats with the animation?
Great job!

Scanography

I really love the contrast between your projects of childish things and adults things. I would be interested in seeing you explore more of these things in future and exploring different aspects of adulthood and childhood. The different struggles and joys of both stages of life.
I could image one about embarrassing changes in your life, one about the exhausting things we have to deal with in adulthood. One about body image issues and it could be interesting to take the same issue and compare it across ages too.
I also love the staging of the low depth of focus and dark background and bright light I think it’s really beautiful.

Animation
https://gigi-nmnf.blogspot.com/p/module-6-animation.html
I really love your animation, the very wormlike motions, the great use of sound and the incorporation of other materials for artistic backgrounds. I would love to see you take this project further with other animals and different mediums for them to explore using their movement to express how you feel about a certain thing like you did for this week. You could even have them explore different objects related to whatever feeling/event you want to explore. Maybe…rats? ;)

Fantasy Landscape
https://janelnewmedianewforms.blogspot.com/2026/02/fantasy-landscape-chickens-in-sky-and.html
I really love your landscape and how you play with scale. The penguin larger than life, bigger than the house. The playing with shadow and the bright vision in the sky.
One thing that I didn’t see at first is the chickens flying in the sky, it felt more to me like the penguins were watching a tv image of chickens or a vision. I think to make it feel more sky like maybe you can make the purple chicken silhouette more opaque, or make the background more transparent or possibly add clouds.
Really great work, it’s stunning!

Monotype Print
https://janelnewmedianewforms.blogspot.com/2026/01/introduction.html?m=1
While we didn’t do this in class and its in your introduction I wanted to discuss this piece anyway because of how striking it is. I love the scratchy lines and energy and the contrast between the black and green shapes. It kind of feels like graffiti thats dripping in some places. I’d love to hear the background behind this piece and see you expand this work into a series.

Sticker Design
https://joyce22333.blogspot.com/2026/03/creative-assignment-sticker-design.html?m=1#more
I love your sticker design and how it symbolizes motivation for you. I know this was a purely digital project but I’d be interested to see these stickers in the real world using the environment around it to bring in the context of motivation perhaps they’re what can brighten a rainy day, or make a long commute feel better. It could be interesting to see them in your car, or on the train, or against a rainy window.
Great work!

Scratch game

I finally got to play your game! You did a really great job.
If you wanted to take this project further I think it would be interesting to see what asssts you could make to take the place of the scratch project, considering what type of vibe you want for your game. For me right now it feels like a mix of silly and spooky.
I’d also be interested in seeing you add an instructions page and you win page, just don’t ask me how to code it! Great job!
Although Kate told me you can go in a copy other peoples code and edit it so that would probably be very helpful.
