2D Design

This piece was inspired by generative AI images, specifically the fact that living near data centers can negatively impact your health and that AI diminishes people's ability to think. According to https://sites.uab.edu/humanrights/2025/10/02/construction-and-consequences-the-human-impacts-of-artificial-intelligence-data-centers/, living near AI data centers can cause eye, throat, and nose irritation. It can also cause severe respiratory infections, reduced metabolism, and even death. It's not surprising then that data centers are being built increasingly in low-income POC neighborhoods that are more likely to be impacted by the increasing electricity prices and the health crisis.

AI doesn't have to be powered this way; we could use renewable energy, according to https://inthesetimes.com/article/artificial-intelligence-ai-data-centers-climate-change. But it's going to take major companies to make that commitment, and ultimately, the people and lawmakers will have to force them to make a change. This issue isn't just about people losing their jobs or art becoming parasitic; it's about environmental racism and our slowly dying planet.

Each body part represents something that AI or its data centers can negatively impact through their usage. It irritates eyes, it causes us to rely less and less on our mind and own creativity, it can cause severe respiratory issues, and even kill you. Something I did my best to represent in the graphic above.
