Making Connections: Reading Take awats
Creating animations and stop motion has been a medium of choice for me for a while so I am familiar with a lot of aspects of the process. However, “What Are the Possibilities?” has some interesting insights.
For example, I didn’t know stop motion was in some way responsible for the development of special effects. It makes me wonder how stop motion can be used to impact other art forms, like photography methods like chronophotography.
The conjuring figure 1.3 examples make me wonder how stop motion could be used in film artistically in combination with video. Horror might be a great usage for this, considering the change of frame rate between a video and stop motion could look very strange. However, I do now remember the usage of stop motion in The Grand Budapest Hotel. Something I would be eager to revisit.
