3D Printing

 Gigi and I teamed up for the 3D printing project. As always, I originally wanted to be more ambitious, combining 3D printing with video and digital collage. My original idea was to have a transformation of location through the 3D printed object. I thought about having a cup, a person looks in and inside of it is a new world, or a person puts on glasses, and then it becomes like an ocean world or something.

Then I thought about taking the idea that the glasses would be small into the narrative. So why not make it a small world, but then, inspired by the rat idea, we thought, why not in a rat home? Then Gigi told me she was making a home for her stuffed rat Boris, and we thought the glasses should be for him.

At first, we wanted to create glasses that rats could theoretically create the type of materials we could find. However, we weren't sure exactly what we'd do and decided we should go for a different angle. Gigi suggested we make the glasses nature-themed. Sowe created some sketches and discussed our ideas. 

We worked together in Tinkercad to create this product.

In the end, we removed the video element, but we still gave the glasses to Borris as you can see from the documentation.
